This is something I struggle with.

We are human at the end of the day. There is nothing wrong with vocalizing our frustration, and taking a moment to find our calm if we can.

Or, if you can't step away, some silly vocalizations help me ease my own tension.

I raise my arms above my head and lower them slowly while making a raspberry noise.

Somehow, this is enough to deflate sometimes. And usually gets me laughing.

We're allowed to be frustrated. We're human.

You're doing your best. That's enough.

What if we just... stopped?

Does that thought give you as much anxiety as it does me?

I often forget during the day to day of trying to keep up that it is okay and healthy to slow down.

My personal favorite way to do this is by taking a mental picture.
If you're a fan of The Office you already know where I'm going with this.

I can't remember the day to day very well usually. But If I look back to those times that I allowed myself to simply *be* for a moment and notice what was going on around me, I can remember in almost exact detail those moments.

Sitting on a swing with two of my babies in my lap.
Playing in the creek and catching crawdads.
My daughter's baby belly laugh when Daddy made funny faces at her.

It's okay to slow down. It's okay to take a moment and look around. See this beautiful life you've built for yourself, Momma. You're doing so well. 🖤

From the time we see those two pink lines or feel those first flutters, we can usually see what kind of delivery we want to have.

I knew exactly how I wanted my final delivery to go. I had this beautiful image for how holding my last baby would feel. But the thing about plans is that we can't plan for everything.

This week's blog post is a vulnerable dive into the memory of my last labor.

"Someday I’ll look back on this time with kinder eyes. My thoughts will more closely mimic my feelings. I’ll move forward.

It’s been four months now though, and that day still feels far off.

And that is okay."

It can be easy to feel lost under this umbrella of “motherhood”. The comments people make. The guilt we feel. The loss of time and by effect- who we used to be.

If you’re that mom feeling a little lost today- I see you. I see your duality and the amazing person you are within this amazing mother you’ve become.

It’s okay to feel a lost. It’s okay to morn the end of life’s chapters.

But maybe next time you look in the mirror, look closely and remember that the original version never left you. She simply transformed into more. 🖤

I’m sure you’ve heard variations of this mantra. However you say it, it rings true and holds so much comfort.

We cannot change the past. Guilt we hold, mistakes we feel we’ve made, things that seemed so important, and thoughts we’ve had or voiced cannot be changed.

But today is a new day.

So yesterday maybe you yelled at your child or were a little less grounded than you’d have liked.
Maybe yesterday you and your partner fought.
Maybe yesterday a lot of things happened.

But luckily-

Today and yesterday are unrelated.

Today might hold an apology or a minute to yourself.
Today might need a phone call to a friend.
Today is its own fresh start.

We can only move forward and do our best with each new day. Keep going, Mama 🖤
